Olympus Explorer S 8×40 Overview

The Olympus 8×40 Explorer S Binoculars feature a 60° wide-angle of view that offers an immersive viewing experience in the woods, at the stadium, or on your porch. Their traditional Porro prisms and anti-reflection coated optics maximize the light entering the 40mm objectives to produce bright and clear images with a rich depth of field. A knurled center focus wheel and an elastic polymer armored grip assist handling and give the viewer precise control of the optic, while fold-down eyecups provide comfortable use with or without eyewear.

Optical Performance

Comfortable 8x power magnifies the view while preserving the wide exit pupil and generous field of view
40mm objective lenses boost low-light capability without adding excessive weight and heft
Traditional Porro prism optical path produces a rich depth of field with true stereoscopic vision for a more “3D” viewing experience
5-element/3-group lens design helps to reduce fringing and distortion, making views appear sharp and flat with little edge curvature
Anti-reflection coated optics improve light transmission, contrast, and color rendition
Wide 60° apparent angle of view reduces the need to move your head side-to-side, so you see more of the scene in front of you
431-foot field of view at 1000 yards
